July 16, 2026	Government discussions continued with representatives from the FDA, HHS, and the White House. Taylor Farms then chose to voluntarily recall every iceberg lettuce product sourced and processed at its central Mexico facility, rather than limiting the action to the particular lots identified by the FDA. The company described the wider action as being taken "out of an abundance of caution." It also began notifying customers that day.
July 17, 2026	Taylor Farms announced its voluntary recall publicly and started its internal investigation. This date is generally recognized as the beginning of the Taylor Farms Cyclospora recall.
July 18, 2026	Taylor Farms was told by the FDA that a preliminary sample of its central Mexico lettuce had produced a "confirmed positive" result. The Current Status of the Situation

The Cyclospora Information Hub now includes a later testing update. As of August 27, 2026, the FDA reported that no product tests had been confirmed positive for Cyclospora.

Taylor Farms also says that approximately 2,000 samples collected in central Mexico since May have produced no positive results in its testing. For the rest of the growing season, the company has paused all central Mexico iceberg lettuce sourcing. Its leafy greens are currently sourced from the United States and Canada.

According to Taylor Farms, it spends more than $200 million each year on independently audited and verified food safety protocols. The company says any future decision to resume central Mexico sourcing will depend on the results of the continuing third-party review and FDA investigation.

The recall is limited to iceberg lettuce from the central Mexico facility and was distributed mainly through foodservice channels. The Hub states that only a limited number of Marketside products sold through Walmart were involved at retail, and all have been removed from store shelves. Products without a “Product of Mexico” label were not included in the recall.
